Duck Soup review – it’s no joke

Posted on December 5, 2011 by pickyglutton • 4 Comments

A night at the opera or a bit of a Zeppo? Gauthier and Arbutus are two of my favourite restaurants in Soho, but they’re not only a bit pricey but also rather formal – Gauthier especially so. Polpetto is just as enjoyable and more affordable and that little gem is now joined by Duck Soup, … Continue reading →

Posted on August 22, 2011 by pickyglutton • 3 Comments

Cheap pizza done right. Pizza isn’t usually something I eat at restaurants. Apart from the fact that I eat enough of the stuff at house parties and late nights at the office, the stuff is rarely done well. If there’s one place I will sit down for a pizza however, it’s Franco Manca. The original … Continue reading →

You need three things to enjoy the whole lamb, in your own private room, at Namak Mandi: A naan the size of a grown adult can mean only one thing: a gargantuan feast at Namek Mandi. • I’m not entirely convinced by the veg-first BBQish menu at Acme Fire Cult. But, if nothing else, the dishes certainly are pretty. • Some of the desserts at Acme Fire Cult: mascarpone semifreddo with nectarines, buttermilk pudding with plums and hazelnut chocolate ganache. • It's only available at weekends and it must be pre-ordered, but Plaza Khao Gaeng's crab special is just about worth the hassle. • Full review now up - see the link in my bio. Bitter gourd with fried egg at Plaza Khao Gaeng might not sound appetising to some, but this was an enjoyably flavoursome Thai dish. The pork larb, as well as the prawn and beans curry, weren't too shabby either. • Full review coming tomorrow. Lahpet in Covent Garden is a gem in more ways than one. It’s one of the very few Burmese restaurants London. And it serves up some barnstorming dishes too! • If you’ve never had Burmese food before, then Lahpet in Covent Garden is an excellent place to try it and enrich your mealtimes! • Oink oink! The whole suckling pig at @sarap_london is a beast of a feast! •
